I was just in Appleton, WI this past weekend at the Skyline Comedy Cafe with two hilarious guys, Cy Amundson and Chad Daniels. We laughed, we drank, we played Wiffle Ball. That’s a good weekend.
The weekend shows were taped for Rooftop Comedy, so I should have a few clips up on there sometime soon. Also, I had the best Mac and Cheese Pizza ever in Appleton at Sal’s Pizza. You win again, cheese state.
This week/weekend, I’m at Western Illinois University on Wednesday and then Giggles in Brookfield Thursday-Saturday. Looking forward to heading back to Macomb, IL and the old college grounds in the Fall, that’ll be great. I’ll post some new videos (and maybe a new web series?) sometime soon from these eventful two weeks.
Finally, I’m taping this DVD I’ve been blabbing about for some time! The date is October 21st at the fantastic LOL Theater in Schaumburg, IL on the Streets of Woodfield. It don’t get much rougher than the mean Streets of Woodfield. There’s a Legoland AND a Starbucks. Watch your ass in da streets.
But yeah, the show is at 8pm and it’s $10 or $15 and you get two drink tickets. Anthony Sarfino and I will be doing around 40 minutes each. I’ll hopefully have the DVDs within a month after the taping for sale after shows and on the website.
Oh and I ordered a new batch of t-shirts. I’ll have them tomorrow, same shirt, but darker/royal blue and I took my website off. No one reads a shirt and goes to the website right? Unless you just did and now you’re hear. In that case, I’d feel like and idiot.
Lots of news and things. This weekend, I”m featuring in Madison, WI with my good buddy Frank Roche. We had the college night show with some great Chicago guests last night, it was a blast. I’ll be there tonight and tomorrow, having fun trying all kinds of crazy pizza slices from Ian’s on State Street. Last night, Ashlee and I were slayed by a Mac and Cheese/Chilli Cheese Frito Pizza combo. Twas a delight.
Last weekend I had the pleasure of working with two awesome comics, Bobcat Goldthwait and Christopher Titus. They both were real gents and gave me some great advice. The Improv is such a fun place to work, I want to work them all.
We’re finalizing the date for the DVD taping, it looks like it’s gonna be Oct. 21st, which is a Wednesday. Trying to come up with a title, some ideas for extra stuff for the DVD, and cool ways to promote the show.
I’m also working on producing a new show with my good friends Pablo Rodriguez and Pat Chase. The show is called Cheapshots and it’s going to be at Murphy’s Pub in Forest Park, IL. It’ll be a monthly showcase at an awesome place with a lot of great comics involved. Stay tuned.
Finally, here’s a picture of the Cobra Commander action figure I bought from the new GI JOE movie. The movie was amazing: crazy action, ridiculous storylines and plot twists, and nonstop cheese. Pretty much everything I incorporated into playing with my GI JOEs when I was 7. Or 15. It was one age or the other. Maybe it’s 23 since I just bought this toy.
Tonight and tomorrow night at 8pm and 10pm I’ll be at the brand new comedy club in Crestwood, IL called SHOWTIME. It’s a really nice place and hopefully it’ll be packed. We’ve gotta compete with the Crestwood Fest where a few members of the band ASIA are playing this weekend, but besides that, we’re golden.
I’m also at Ashbary’s Coffee House tonight AFTER Showtime at around midnight with the Hot Cup of Comedy gang, as well as tomorrow BEFORE Showtime at around 7pm. 6 shows, 2 days, lots of drinks.
Sunday night Last Loco Standing 2009 starts and I’m hosting this thing with 11 other hilarious Chicago comics competing for the title and some money. It’s every Sunday night in August at 8pm at Joe’s on Weed St. downtown.
Last night I had a show in Spring Lake Michigan at a Holiday Inn. It was a blast. Some people got some shirts which is always nice, and there were lots of drunken Michigannies slurring their speech to me before, during, and after the show.
Last thing, there’s a great show going on in Frankfort, IL on Wednesdays in August, ticket sales go to charity and they’ve got good comics up every week. I’m on there August 19th, so stop by and say hello.
Hey! I’m featured on Comedy Central’s Jokes.com in an Open Mic Challenge they’ve got going on.
Some of the network’s favorite picks of the contest will be aired this weekend on Comedy Central during the 4th of July festivities they are broadcasting. So watch that channel this weekend and let me know if I’m on it! I’ll be in Chatanooga, TN visiting my brother. Have a great 4th.
Hey, since I’m taping a half hour DVD on July 11th with my good friend Anthony Sarfino, we’re practicing our longer sets frequently in the months leading up to it at places like Cigars and Stripes in Berwyn, IL.
We’ll be making some special features for the DVDs along the way, and we’ll have the discs for sale probably towards the end of the summer. It sucks talking about the end of the summer when it’s not even here yet, but gotta think ahead!
Tonight I’ve got some standup in Country Club Hills, IL at Pros Sports Bar and Grill.
Tomorrow night I’m at the Charly Horse in New Lenox, IL doing some comedy right off of Route 30.
Next Tuesday I’m doing my friend Joe Anderson’s radio show “Haters to the Left” for DePaul University downtown. That’ll be a blast from 9pm-Midnight.
My calendar is pretty full for the summer and fall, and I’ve got weddings in Springfield, IL, Boston, MA, and San Francisco, CA to go to every summer month. Busy busy busy.
Tonight is the first show of a new monthly show I’m running at a pizza joint called Barraco’s in Orland Park, IL. Here’s the flyer for the show. It’s gonna be sweet, come check it out if you can!
I’ll be doing some video blogs now because I got an awesome new camcorder. They sort of chronicle my road shows and random happenings. I hope you enjoy this first one.
I’ve been putting on some shows at a place called Fox’s Pub in Mokena, IL lately and they’ve been a ton of fun. The turnouts are pretty good, the staff and management are friendly and welcoming, and the experience couldn’t be better. I’ve gotten in a great handful of comics so far and am continuing to do so. I’ve been hosting all the shows along with these great fellas.
I know, I know. Lot’s of dudes. But in coming shows, we’ll be seeing some very talented ladies hopefully gracing the stage. And by stage, I mean the tiled same level section at the front of the dining section of Fox’s. I’m booking shows for the 23rd and 30th now, so I’ll fill those in soon.
Here’s a picture of Joey Villagomez rocking Fox’s:
Along with the success of the comedy nights, they’ve asked me to put on a variety show of sorts on Saturday nights. I call it the Friends of Fox’s Variety Show because I am a very lazy namethinker. It’s also a contest for the performers, with the best voted act receiving $100 cash. We did the first one this past Saturday, and it went very well. Here was the lineup:
I’ll have clips of these guys and also some clips of the comics up on the Funny at Fox’s Youtube Page sometime soon.
We’ll be doing two more of these on the 24th and 30th of January, the day after each standup show, so be sure to check those out.
It was a busy weekend, and I’m back at work, but I’ve got the new comic you can check out daily (today, E is for Eskimo) and soon I’ll have a web series to watch weekly. It might be funny. Here’s hoping in ‘09.
