Wednesday, July 1st, 2009

Hey! I’m featured on Comedy Central’s Jokes.com in an Open Mic Challenge they’ve got going on.

Jokes

Some of the network’s favorite picks of the contest will be aired this weekend on Comedy Central during the 4th of July festivities they are broadcasting. So watch that channel this weekend and let me know if I’m on it! I’ll be in Chatanooga, TN visiting my brother. Have a great 4th.

TV Shows That I Watch and Now Write Blogs About

Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

Scrubs Finale was really good. They said it’s “JD’s Finale” but I hope the whole series is over, and they don’t try and bring back some washed up version of the show for another season. I wouldn’t mind a spin-off called like “Scrubs:  Interns” or something to keep that kind of comedy going in a hospital setting, but the ending on this last season was so good, it would make an excellent end to the series.

How I Met Your Mother is one of the funniest shows on TV. The cast is amazing and the jokes and story lines are so well written. There’s that intertwining, hint-of-Seinfeld thing going on inmost episodes, too, which is always impressive.

Harper’s Island is one of the lamest new shows on right now, but I can’t stop watching it. Someone, sometimes more than someone, gets killed every episode, usually in a brutal way, which makes it watchable in my book. The acting and characters are very lame, so watching them all die is the best part. Check this out if you’re looking for a non-funny version of CLUE on an island with no talent.

The Mentalist is the best new show this year, and even though it’s the same scenario every episode, it hooks me because the main character is such a slickster. The show is about an Australian actor with an American accent constantly outsmarting people, but for some reason I feel dumber after every viewing. I think it’s the idea of something so simple trapping me on the couch for an hour every week that makes me feel like less of a sleuth and more of a lazy jackass. But the show is good!

I’ll stop here with the newest season of RENO 911! which is one of my favorite shows of all time. They lost three of their best characters for some unknown reason this season, and it started off with a bad episode and no hope, but it got so much better. Every episode since the first has been perfect. Great characters and scenes all around. Junior is my new favorite character. Watch the episode where they try and disgust the pope’s clergy so he won’t make a visit to Reno so they don’t have to do extra crowd control and work. It’s great.

I Wish I Worked in ‘The Office’ Office

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

Wouldn’t that be cool? Even if I was playing a chair or a coat rack or something, it would be fantastic to be involved in the making of The Office. I just caught up on Season 4 that I got on DVD and it was really hilarious, especially towards the end of the season. The finale was too good and left tons open for the next season’s first episode, which is always nice. Also included on the DVD is a 23 minute blooper reel that puts most other blooper reels to shame, featuring some great flubs and laughs. Dwight pulling Michael’s face towards his with the metal pointer is probably the hardest thing to film of all time without laughing.

After watching Season 4, I had to immediately watch the first episode of Season 5 on NBC.com because I never catch shows on actual TV anymore. All in all, it was also incredibly well done, and the Michael Klump fat suit character is my new favorite moment from the show. If you haven’t seen it, watch it online right now.

Oh I won that contest that I was in last week, the finals for Last Loco Standing! It was a great night. The other comics Pat Chase and Ryan Andrews were hilarious as well, and we all had to deal with a ‘professional heckler’ that was placed in the audience unbeknownst to us. Is that a word? Anyway, he wasn’t all that bad, and we all had a blast on stage. I’ll put up a video of some parts of it soon. I’ll be working with Ryan Andrews again next Tuesday night at the Flame of Countryside, which I’m told is not a gay bar despite the name. We’re doing a ‘corporate’ show with another great comic, Ken Garr. Should be very fun. And free dinner! That’s spiffy.

See you next time. I’m talking to you, mom. You’re the only one that reads this. (Dad has bad eyes)

9021-Uh Oh! I’m Sorry, I Couldn’t Resist.

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

The new 90210 is missing one very important person.

Right? Andrea? Where the hell is she? She should easily be the old woman who’s sleeping with teenagers in the new 90210 spinoff. I think they’re just saving her up for her own show called ‘Drea, where she teaches young actresses how to play characters that 10-15 years younger than they really are. Sick burn, I know, but is Gabrielle Carteris really going to read this? Quick trivia, she studied mime. MIME. Oh and by the way, that autographed picture of her above isn’t actually mine. I found it on the internet. I traded mine for one of Jason Preistley’s denim shirts years ago.

I am excited that these numbers are back in the title of a show. How many good number-titled shows are out there? One Tree Hill? Jon and Kate Plus 8? …Numbers? I guess there’s a lot. But none of them compare to the zip code where Dylan’s dad blew up in, and then came back from the dead in a later season. Luke Perry must have deuced his khakis when he read that script back in the late 90s.

I don’t know why I have watched this show. I’ve seen almost all the episodes and I’m a dude and I was like 5 when it came out. But my mom and sister watched it and my dad wouldn’t always let me watch Married With Children. So I got screwed. Damn Bundys and their bathroom humor.

In conclusion, I have faith in the new 90210. I hope they mix it up. I hope it stays ridiculous. And I hope Jenny Garth gets naked.

On a completely unrelated note, I’m doing a show at Cigars and Stripes next Saturday night with two of my buddies and the show is sure to please. Here’s the flyer.

Graduation Proclamation

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

I had my grad party this weekend. This picture pretty much sums it up:

That was soon followed by the classy finish of this:

Grad parties are amazing. This being mine, it was especially a good time. Lots of people, lots of food and drinks and lots of laughs. There were Budds Family staples at the party like a rented port-a-potty, good jams, and bag playing galore. And thanks to our awesome neighbors, we had some sweet tents and even a Keg-er-ator. It kept the beer cold and extra beery. All of these components added up to a sweet night of fair weathered friends and family rocking out until who knows when.

On a completely different note, Sub City, my all-time favorite sub place, has any King sub for $4.99. I think it’s to compete with Subway’s $5 Footlong. If someone gave me an endless supply of Subway footlongs for the rest of my life or like one good Sub City, I’d take the Subway footlongs. Here’s the catch though, I’d sell the unlimited footlongs from Subway and open my own Subway for a long enough time so I could afford to buy my own Sub City. See what I did there? I thought it out. That’s what college does for you. It helps you think out pointless crap.

Finally, Tiny Toon Adventures Season One comes out on DVD and if you are any kind of human being that grew up in the early 90s, you best be grabbing a copy. Who can forget the awesome intro and catchy theme song?
