Chi-Chi-Chi-Chi-Ha-Ha-Ha-Ha (Jason Noises)

Monday, February 9th, 2009

Here’s a clip from this past weekend working at JD’s Comedy Cafe in Milwaukee, WI.

It was a lot of fun working with William Krolowitz, Brian Aldridge, and Scott Henry. They were all a blast to work with.

I saw Coraline yesterday. It was good. It was in 3D, which I was digging but then forgot about after five minutes. I hope the 3D glasses that they let us keep will work to watch the 3D Chuck that aired last week or so.

I saw Choke, too. I thought it was terrible. Really drawn out and it went nowhere interesting.

I’m seeing Friday the 13th for Valentine’s Day. How’d I talk myself into that one?

Shit! He’s gonna get his kill on all crazy-like. Let’s hope it’s extra gory for and extra red Valentine’s Day.

New Alphabet, Now in Color!

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

Sharp Alphabet has come to an end…IN BLACK AND WHITE!

Starting this Sunday February 1st, I’m starting the alphabet over and adding beautiful colors. Now you’ll be able to tell just who exactly is bleeding, crying, or peeing. Thanks to my trusty red, blue, and yellow markers. And others!

Some ideas I had for last month needed some color to really work, so I’ll have those up this month. Here are some notes about my first month doing Sharp Alphabet:

  • Some were good, some were bad. My favorite comic was the Morgan Freeman one, which by itself kind of gave me the idea to try to do a new letter everyday. Letter X was the absolute worst. It’s hard to think of things that begin with X, so I’ll try harder later.
  • Towards the end of the month, I was having to do like four comics a day to catch up. I’ll try to have like three comics made in advance in Feb. so I never get behind!
  • I’m glad people like/dislike the comics! Please let me know if you think one is funny, or if you think one is terrible. Either way you’re looking at my website and that’s what this is all about.

(M) 01.13.09.

On another note, my last shows at Fox’s on Wolf in Mokena, IL are this weekend. Standup on Friday night at 10pm featuring Pat Chase, Mike Von, and Anthony Sarfino. Variety Show on Saturday night at 8pm featuring some standup/sketch, some magic, and some singing. Feel free to check them out, they’re free!

One month in ‘09 is almost over. I need to learn how to make time slow down.

Video Blog #1

Monday, January 19th, 2009

I’ll be doing some video blogs now because I got an awesome new camcorder. They sort of chronicle my road shows and random happenings. I hope you enjoy this first one.

Friends and Funny at Fox’s Pub

Monday, January 5th, 2009

I’ve been putting on some shows at a place called Fox’s Pub in Mokena, IL lately and they’ve been a ton of fun. The turnouts are pretty good, the staff and management are friendly and welcoming, and the experience couldn’t be better. I’ve gotten in a great handful of comics so far and am continuing to do so. I’ve been hosting all the shows along with these great fellas.

Show #1-11.21.08.
Dan Brennan
Anthony Sarfino
Ryan Andrews

Show #2-12.05.08.
Jay Harris
Ken Schultz
Ken Garr

Show #3-12.19.08.
Brad Fowler
Adam Burke
Anthony Sarfino

Show #4-01.02.09.
Pablo Rodriguez
Ryan Andrews
Joey Villagomez

I know, I know. Lot’s of dudes. But in coming shows, we’ll be seeing some very talented ladies hopefully gracing the stage. And by stage, I mean the tiled same level section at the front of the dining section of Fox’s. I’m booking shows for the 23rd and 30th now, so I’ll fill those in soon.

Here’s a picture of Joey Villagomez rocking Fox’s:

Along with the success of the comedy nights, they’ve asked me to put on a variety show of sorts on Saturday nights. I call it the Friends of Fox’s Variety Show because I am a very lazy namethinker. It’s also a contest for the performers, with the best voted act receiving $100 cash. We did the first one this past Saturday, and it went very well. Here was the lineup:

Variety Show #1-01.03.09.
Lounge Singer Johnny Chicago
Comedian Ken Orr
Beatboxer Kwake
Comedian Sean Harrigan
Magician James Maddex

I’ll have clips of these guys and also some clips of the comics up on the Funny at Fox’s Youtube Page sometime soon.

We’ll be doing two more of these on the 24th and 30th of January, the day after each standup show, so be sure to check those out.

It was a busy weekend, and I’m back at work, but I’ve got the new comic you can check out daily (today, E is for Eskimo) and soon I’ll have a web series to watch weekly. It might be funny. Here’s hoping in ‘09.

I Wish I Worked in ‘The Office’ Office

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

Wouldn’t that be cool? Even if I was playing a chair or a coat rack or something, it would be fantastic to be involved in the making of The Office. I just caught up on Season 4 that I got on DVD and it was really hilarious, especially towards the end of the season. The finale was too good and left tons open for the next season’s first episode, which is always nice. Also included on the DVD is a 23 minute blooper reel that puts most other blooper reels to shame, featuring some great flubs and laughs. Dwight pulling Michael’s face towards his with the metal pointer is probably the hardest thing to film of all time without laughing.

After watching Season 4, I had to immediately watch the first episode of Season 5 on NBC.com because I never catch shows on actual TV anymore. All in all, it was also incredibly well done, and the Michael Klump fat suit character is my new favorite moment from the show. If you haven’t seen it, watch it online right now.

Oh I won that contest that I was in last week, the finals for Last Loco Standing! It was a great night. The other comics Pat Chase and Ryan Andrews were hilarious as well, and we all had to deal with a ‘professional heckler’ that was placed in the audience unbeknownst to us. Is that a word? Anyway, he wasn’t all that bad, and we all had a blast on stage. I’ll put up a video of some parts of it soon. I’ll be working with Ryan Andrews again next Tuesday night at the Flame of Countryside, which I’m told is not a gay bar despite the name. We’re doing a ‘corporate’ show with another great comic, Ken Garr. Should be very fun. And free dinner! That’s spiffy.

See you next time. I’m talking to you, mom. You’re the only one that reads this. (Dad has bad eyes)

Last Loco Standing FINALS this FRIDAY, Sept. 26th.

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

Hey I’m in the finals of this awesome comedy contest put on by Mikey O Comedy on the Southside of Chicago. It’s called Last Loco Standing, and it’s down to three comics, including myself. Here’s the flyer:

Last Loco Contest Promo

It’s based on audience voting, and if I win, I get $500! Please please please come out and vote for me, it’s completely free, and it’s going to be very funny. The other two comics, Ryan Andrews and Pat Chase, are hilarious. all the address info and stuff is above on the flyer. It says $8 cover, but they waived that for the championship round. Bring friends and family if you can!

I’m in Wisconsin this Saturday night. That should be interesting. I’ll be sure to take some cheesy pictures while I’m up there. Get it? Because they have cheese there. That joke will not be featured in the contest on Friday.

I Will Be Getting My Ass Kicked on the Streets of Chicago

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

This Saturday I’ll be getting my ass kicked on the streets of Chicago.

Not for real though! Silly!

I’m filming a web series that I mentioned before this weekend and my character steals this other character’s underwear and then gets beat up for it. How inticing does that sound? You can’t wait to watch it, can you? I don’t want to talk about the idea of being typcast for this character, for that would mean the director found my audition so believable that he actualy imagined me having a background of stealing underwear. Yikes.

So that’s going on this Saturday. This Friday night, however, I’m in the 2nd round of Mikey-O’s Last Loco Standing Comedy Contest at the Watra Nightclub on the Southside of Chicago at 47th and Pulaski. It was a blast last Friday and I moved on and it’s down to 6 very funny comics. Voting is based on audience ballots, so come out and vote for me this Friday (and hopefully several more Fridays in September if I keep moving on.)

Tonight, I have a show at The Spot at 4437 N. Broadway. It starts at 8pm and is totally free. My friend Josh Alton set it up, so it will be a great show.

I know this list is completely out of order, but I also have a show at the wonderfully rustic Cigars and Stripes on Saturday night at 10pm. This one is $5 and is with my good friends Brian Dejka and Dan Brennan. So come see that. Here’s a wacky picture of those two comics and the owner of Cigars and Stripes, Ronnie Lottz.

In conclusion, check my shows page for the right order of these awesome shows. Also check out and keep checking out my videos section, where I’ve put up some new vids and will continute to be putting up some new vids. Oh and pictures. I’ve got some new pictures here and there. All of these links are at the top of the website too under my banner. I don’t know why I’m putting them here, too. I’m an overdoer. Ladies, you heard that right.

9021-Uh Oh! I’m Sorry, I Couldn’t Resist.

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

The new 90210 is missing one very important person.

Right? Andrea? Where the hell is she? She should easily be the old woman who’s sleeping with teenagers in the new 90210 spinoff. I think they’re just saving her up for her own show called ‘Drea, where she teaches young actresses how to play characters that 10-15 years younger than they really are. Sick burn, I know, but is Gabrielle Carteris really going to read this? Quick trivia, she studied mime. MIME. Oh and by the way, that autographed picture of her above isn’t actually mine. I found it on the internet. I traded mine for one of Jason Preistley’s denim shirts years ago.

I am excited that these numbers are back in the title of a show. How many good number-titled shows are out there? One Tree Hill? Jon and Kate Plus 8? …Numbers? I guess there’s a lot. But none of them compare to the zip code where Dylan’s dad blew up in, and then came back from the dead in a later season. Luke Perry must have deuced his khakis when he read that script back in the late 90s.

I don’t know why I have watched this show. I’ve seen almost all the episodes and I’m a dude and I was like 5 when it came out. But my mom and sister watched it and my dad wouldn’t always let me watch Married With Children. So I got screwed. Damn Bundys and their bathroom humor.

In conclusion, I have faith in the new 90210. I hope they mix it up. I hope it stays ridiculous. And I hope Jenny Garth gets naked.

On a completely unrelated note, I’m doing a show at Cigars and Stripes next Saturday night with two of my buddies and the show is sure to please. Here’s the flyer.

Show Me the Shows

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

People keep asking me when I’m doing some shows (i.e. my mom, my dad, then my mom again) so I thought I would post a blog weekly on the shows for that week with a little more description. Sadly, my parents don’t know what a blog is or how to read one so they’ll be out of the loop, but hey, they don’t believe in caller ID, so go figure.

I’ve got lots of fun shows coming up at a good variety of places. You should come check one out. Here’s a breakdown of descriptions of each show in the next week or so, and you can always check my Shows page for the quick links with constant updates. Oh and I’ll be taping all of the shows with my brand new camcorder, which is probably on schedule to break anytime before I really need to record something important. Canon, don’t fail me.

Thursday August 14th-Benefit Show with Mikey-O-Comedy.
This showcase of up and coming Chicago comics will be a blast. Huge crowds and great comedy. It’s also raising money for ENLACE Leadership Institute. I’ll be doing a fifteen-minute-ish set. This is a newer venue in Northwest Indiana that doubles as a coffeehouse and recording studio. I’ll be recording the audio from this show, so come watch or ask me for a copy. I’ll be doing a half-hour set. Blue Lotus Cafe, 1600 119th St. Whiting, IN. All Ages.

Saturday August 16th-Big Dog Eat Child’s Super Party: Gigante.

BDEC puts on their 5th annual bash at the Ashbary Coffeehouse featuring tons of awesome musical and comical talent from all over our great state. Cover is $15 for two day passes, $10 for one day, or $5 for a specific block of performers but you are paying for a huge variety of entertainment. The show goes from 6pm-1am both Friday the 15th and Saturday the 16th, and I’ll be going on at 9:30pm on Saturday. I’ll be doing a half-hour set. Ashbary Coffehouse, 8695 S. Thanks for reading. You are loved.

The Knight is Darkest Just Before the Dawn

Monday, July 21st, 2008

What an amazing movie the Dark Knight was. If you didn’t like this movie, there can’t be too much in the world you find appealing. There wasn’t one part of it that wasn’t extremely well thought out and executed to the highest caliber of awesome. Probably one of the best movies I’ve ever seen. It’s still one notch below Batman and Robin though.

“ICE TO SEE YOU!”

Just kidding. The weekend was great and all it was cracked up to be. I featured at the Barrel of Laughs on Friday and Saturday night for a show a piece and had a blast. Very fun crowds and lots of great stage time. Lots of good audience interaction, which isn’t something I always dive into, but it’s fun when there’s a good dialog going. My buddy and fellow comic Jay Harris taped Friday’s show for me, so I’ve got a good half hour of stuff to work with for a new promo DVD. Josh Alton was the headliner, a very funny Chicago comic with a great act.

I had some grad parties on Saturday night too with close friends and they were pretty gnarly. Good food and lots of laughs. It’s weird not having anywhere to go back to in the fall for a change. After 18 years of school starting in the fall, you kind of get used to it. Maybe I’ll take a non-credit class at Moraine Valley Community College just so I don’t fall by the wayside. I’ve always wanted to learn how to color inside the lines.

Last night I did a guest spot at Joe’s on Weed St. with Mikey-O Comedy. Such a sweet crowd, and really packed, in one of the coolest venues I’ve performed at. Now I know why everyone is always praising the place. It’s run well and everybody knows how to have a good show. Very cool atmosphere, and I hope to be back soon.

Finally, I’m featured on a new Coke Zero Billboard.

Well not really. But that kind of looks like me right? Check out my pictures section for some comparisons. The Coke Zero guy is not nearly as ripped as me, but few are. Including Arnold Schwarzenegger.

“HAVE AN ICE DAY!”
