I just got a new laptop today, which means I’ll be able to churn out more viral videos and projects. I plan on posting way more stuff, way more often. Stay tuned for a new web series about…something.
Go see Adventureland. It’s really good. Absolutely awesome soundtrack, too.
Sharp Alphabet has come to an end…IN BLACK AND WHITE!
Starting this Sunday February 1st, I’m starting the alphabet over and adding beautiful colors. Now you’ll be able to tell just who exactly is bleeding, crying, or peeing. Thanks to my trusty red, blue, and yellow markers. And others!
Some ideas I had for last month needed some color to really work, so I’ll have those up this month. Here are some notes about my first month doing Sharp Alphabet:
On another note, my last shows at Fox’s on Wolf in Mokena, IL are this weekend. Standup on Friday night at 10pm featuring Pat Chase, Mike Von, and Anthony Sarfino. Variety Show on Saturday night at 8pm featuring some standup/sketch, some magic, and some singing. Feel free to check them out, they’re free!
One month in ‘09 is almost over. I need to learn how to make time slow down.
Hey all Happy New Year! ‘09 looks like it could be fun. I’m starting out the new year with this new comic I’ve been working on called Sharp Alphabet. Basically, every day for 26 days I’ll have a new comic posted with a new letter for that day. I’m starting with A, so the first comic goes “A is for anal” and then there’s a joke about the word anal. “B is for bald” goes with a joke about being bald, and so on. It’s quite simple. And I wanted to keep it extra simple by drawing the comics with a sharpie and having everything look minimal. It’s not rocket science. I’m no Will Eisner. I can’t really draw. So enjoy my sad sketches and the weird situations going on in each new comic. That’s the point. I hope you’ll check back everyday to see what the new letter brings to the table and I hope that you’ll spread the word through all the networking outlets.
Couple notes about the comics: They’ll be posted each day. I threw four up there to start out, so I’m covered until Sunday the 4th. But on Monday the 5th, check back for a new one! If you want to tell people about it, it’s just www.ryanbudds.com/comics. I’d appreciate it. Emailing that link to a friend or family member would be awesome of you! My late Christmas present from you. Thanks. You can enlarge each comic by clicking on it. Very easy stuff. Finally, let me know if you’d like to throw a comic on your site, I’d be more than happy to spread the crazy. Thanks and Happy New Year!
This Saturday I’ll be getting my ass kicked on the streets of Chicago.
Not for real though! Silly!
I’m filming a web series that I mentioned before this weekend and my character steals this other character’s underwear and then gets beat up for it. How inticing does that sound? You can’t wait to watch it, can you? I don’t want to talk about the idea of being typcast for this character, for that would mean the director found my audition so believable that he actualy imagined me having a background of stealing underwear. Yikes.
So that’s going on this Saturday. This Friday night, however, I’m in the 2nd round of Mikey-O’s Last Loco Standing Comedy Contest at the Watra Nightclub on the Southside of Chicago at 47th and Pulaski. It was a blast last Friday and I moved on and it’s down to 6 very funny comics. Voting is based on audience ballots, so come out and vote for me this Friday (and hopefully several more Fridays in September if I keep moving on.)
Tonight, I have a show at The Spot at 4437 N. Broadway. It starts at 8pm and is totally free. My friend Josh Alton set it up, so it will be a great show.
I know this list is completely out of order, but I also have a show at the wonderfully rustic Cigars and Stripes on Saturday night at 10pm. This one is $5 and is with my good friends Brian Dejka and Dan Brennan. So come see that. Here’s a wacky picture of those two comics and the owner of Cigars and Stripes, Ronnie Lottz.
In conclusion, check my shows page for the right order of these awesome shows. Also check out and keep checking out my videos section, where I’ve put up some new vids and will continute to be putting up some new vids. Oh and pictures. I’ve got some new pictures here and there. All of these links are at the top of the website too under my banner. I don’t know why I’m putting them here, too. I’m an overdoer. Ladies, you heard that right.
WHOA.
Thanks Keanu.
What happened to the summer? Wasn’t it just starting? Where the eff did it go? Did I even go swimming yet?
You may be asking yourself all of these questions in the next couple of days/weeks. That’s because this was the fastest summer of all time. Now that I’m done with school it kind of feels like the summer may never end, because I have no school to go back to. There’s all sorts of time-confusion going on.
If you ever want to be blown away by time, try and think about your life so far. For me, I’ve lived for almost 23 years. If I live to be 80 (if), that’s a little over a 1/4th of my life done. So I’ve got 3/4ths left. Which is good because it’s the majority. And it’s also good because I plan on being one of those old guys with terrible posture that sits in McDonald’s on Monday mornings and drinks coffee and reads the newspaper and then tells the staff at McDonald’s when rowdy teens are being rowdy. I mean seriously, they don’t belong in the Playland. They’re way too old, and someone needs to get them in trouble.
Focusing more on the current, I’ve got some sweet-ass projects coming up. I’ve got a number of shows at different places over the next month and a half and those will be fun, and I’m trying out some other things. I’ll be learning a little improv here and there to help me on stage, I’ll be writing lots of different things (spec scripts, shorts, stories, and NEW material), and I’ll be doing some acting in an online web series about a humorous family of criminals. I play a sleazy guy that gets beat up a lot, so it shouldn’t be too hard to prep for.
I’ll be selling CDs after all of my shows now, too. They are $15. They’re blank CDs. You can put whatever you want on them. It’s up to you. Maybe a nice end of summer mix? Hmm? Hmm?
